IPF Presents Hearts on Fire: Journey to Omaha Benefit Banquet

6:00pm - 9:00pm
Cost: $125.00
The program will feature the presentation of the St. John Vianney Award for Priestly Service to Archbishop George J. Lucas in recognition of his steadfast support of the IPF mission throughout his years here in Omaha. The program will also acquaint attendees with one of the most important features of the summer program for seminarians: the dedicated adjunct faculty and spiritual directors who join us each summer in Omaha. We’ll have a chance to hear from a few of these dedicated priests who, despite many commitments at home, choose to offer themselves to the service of the seminarians who join us each summer. Participants will have a chance to assist the Institute in “closing the gap” between the actual cost of the summer seminarian program and the tuition paid by dioceses.

25th Annual Guardian Angel Auction

6:00pm - 10:00pm
Cost: $100.00
On Saturday, April 15, 2023, St. Gerald Catholic Church and School will celebrate the 25th anniversary of our annual Guardian Angel Auction. Over 200 guests will spend an evening together in fellowship and fundraising to support our mission and vision for the school.

The proceeds from our annual auction will provide support for much needed school capital and operational improvements. This year, the focus for funding is to “refresh” the school by renovating another set of restrooms, which have not been updated in nearly 50 years and replacing windows and carpet. St. Gerald wants to continue to be a “Catholic school of choice” and beacon for those in our community! Many group meetings, sporting events and community events are held within its walls. These improvements will allow us to enhance the school experience and learning environment for students, faculty, current school families and potential families.

Data = Relationships

8:30am - 3:00pm
David Drozd, Director of Research and Data Analysis – Community Health Development Partners

Nic Prenger, founder and CEO – Prenger Solutions
Amy Turbes, Senior Director and Principal Gifts Operations – Creighton University

Good data is central to effective fundraising efforts. In this workshop, three professionals well-versed in the vital role data usage plays in profitable fundraising efforts will present on such topics as: how best to find, then use, relevant data points; data software options and how strategic data usage can build constituent relationships and increase major giving.

Nebraska ranks among the top five states for fertility rates across almost every demographic group. And our state has one of the highest labor force participation rates. What’s the significance of this data? Firstly, it translates into a high need for childcare, including after school programs, and it also explains why it is difficult for working parents of young children to volunteer in parish and school events. David Drozd’s session will demonstrate how Nebraska’s unique character plays into parish and school life and offers suggestions on how organizational leaders can respond to current situations and use data projections to plan for a fruitful future.

Donor care is the focus of Nic Prenger’s discussion, and donor management software is the vehicle for such care. In this “choose and use” session, Nic will introduce participants to the database software options on the market and advise how to best use these choices to foster strong donor-organization relationships.

Can data help increase major giving? Absolutely. Amy Turbes will discuss how data guides the development and implementation of strategic communication plans (for instance, mass versus individual solicitation). She will also address how data can help stewardship officers identify major donors and how data feeds an organization’s understanding of its donors, resulting in a deeper connection.

Amy Turbes is the Senior Director of Principal Gifts Operations at Creighton University. She has worked at Creighton for over fifteen years. Amy has also held positions with Family Housing Advisory Services, Habitat for Humanity International in Tanzania, the YWCA of Boulder County and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver.

Amy is currently the President of the Gilbert C. Swanson Foundation and very much enjoys seeing the donor side of things. Amy is an active member and volunteer with Apra both at the International and regional levels. Amy was named the 2020 Apra Margaret Fuhry Award Winner nominated by her peers.

As a true extrovert, Amy loves connecting people dots. She believes in the six degrees of separation rule and will make sure to figure out how you are connected or how she can connect you to someone. This part of her personality is genetic and adds to her love of fundraising strategy which has led to exciting conversations with strangers on airplanes.

David Drozd (Drewz) is the Director of Research and Data Analytics for Community Health Development Partners. In this role he disseminates information to a variety of stakeholders and fulfills data needs for grants and performs analyses on procedure volume and revenue from operations.

David previously served as the Research Coordinator for the Center for Public Affairs Research at the University of Nebraska at Omaha for 18 years. He is a specialist in data compiling, analysis, and helping audiences understand patterns and trends. David is an expert on U.S. Census Bureau data and is widely quoted in the media when Census figures are released.

A native Nebraskan growing up near Columbus, David completed his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Agricultural Economics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. As a leading researcher on population characteristics, David aids in the discussion of Nebraska’s changing demographics in both urban and rural settings.

David can be reached at 402-730-2777 or David.Drozd@communityhdp.com

Nic Prenger founded Prenger Solutions Group in 2018 to help Catholic parishes, schools and dioceses adapt and thrive in the new world of digital fundraising.
Having spent the previous 12 years leading one of the largest Catholic fundraising firms in the nation, Nic saw first-hand how quickly donor habits were changing as the world moved online.

When the Coronavirus pandemic hit in March 2020, Nic’s team was ready. Within days of the outbreak, Nic was hosting free webinars that attracted attendees from more than 4,000 parishes - teaching pastors and parish staff how to livestream Mass, move their giving online and engage families through digital tools.

PSG’s team of experts manage databases that include millions of constituents. They are constantly finding innovative ways to increase fundraising results and streamline gift processing through better program design and cutting-edge automation.

Nic has personally raised more than $500 million and served as trusted counsel to many of the country’s premier development programs. His leadership experience includes serving on the national advisory board for the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA)  working for the U.S. Senate Finance Committee in Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
