Pilgrimage to the March For Life
January 26-31, 2021
2021 March for Life
Thank you for your patience as we discerned attending the upcoming March for Life. The result of our time in prayer and deliberation is that the Archdiocese of Omaha will not organize a pilgrimage to the 2021 March for Life.
While this may not come as a surprise to many, we know that you likely feel the same disappointment that we do. Although we are saddened, there are several reasons we believe this is the most prudent decision:
- With the continued uncertainty of COVID-19, we cannot guarantee the safety of our students as they will travel and lodge in close quarters and will make various stops in many different states.
- The procedure for quarantining if the need arose is more complicated than we are able to manage.
- The bulk of our time will be spent in Virginia and Maryland which currently have high rates of Corona Virus transmission.
- With the cancelation of so many other events across the nation, we anticipate that our options for activities during the pilgrimage will be severely limited or canceled.
We know that the March for Life is an important opportunity to pray for an end to abortion, to advocate for life, and to offer your students a moment to encounter Jesus. Thus, as an alternative, we are asking groups who would have gone to the March in January to work with their parish pro-life coordinators and other pro-life groups to hold a night for life on Friday, January 22, 2021. Together we will unite in prayer and fasting for an end to abortion.
We will have more detailed information for you soon, including an outline of the event and suggestions of local pro-life opportunities.
We are excited to unite with you and others across the Archdiocese of Omaha to celebrate life and pray for an end to abortion.
