Beauty and Holiness: The Union of Spirituality and the Arts
10:00am
St. Augustine once said, “What do we love, if it be not beauty?”
Indeed. This fifth annual ecumenical retreat, July 10-11, will engage us in the process of spiritual growth by exploring the connections between beauty and holiness.
Through the medium of the arts, we will enhance our intuitive connection to God, experience God’s presence in liturgy, and seek new insights through artistic projects.
The program this year will feature fresh topics and approaches that will appeal to both new and returning participants.
Leading the retreat will be Michael Bauer – director of the doctoral church music program at the University of Kansas and organist-choirmaster at St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Omaha – and the Rev. Keith Winton of St. Andrew Episcopal Church.
The retreat begins 10 a.m. Friday, July 10, and ends 3 p.m. Friday, July 11.
Program fee: $70
Rooms (per person, per night): single $52, double $43
Meals: breakfast $9, lunch $13.30, supper $12.30 (Sales and lodging taxes are additional.)
Register online at www.StBenedictCenter.com or by calling 402-352-8819, ext. 360.

Fr. Ssonko Fundraiser - Invest in Hope: Educate Youth for Brighter Tomorrows
5:30pm - 9:00pm
Cost: $40
Join us for this year’s Fr. Ssonko Fundraiser—Invest in Hope: Educate Youth for Brighter Tomorrows—on Friday, July 11.
This unique raise-the-paddle fundraiser raises money to support our sister parish, St. Mary’s in Busaabala, Uganda. Last year, we had an outstanding response to raise funds to build a dormitory for the students of St. Mary’s Primary School.
This year we will be raising funds to support the students of the school —particularly in paying for uniforms for students who can’t afford them, school supplies, and the like. Visit our parish website or stop in the St. Patrick Gretna Parish Office to get your tickets.
The Stella Matutina O’Connor Foundation is offering a $30,000 matching fund this year.

Teens Encounter Christ
9:30am
Cost: $75
Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) is a three-day retreat for juniors and seniors in high school, as well as college freshmen. This intergenerational movement helps youth transition into young adulthood. TEC draws participants into the heart of the Catholic faith: Christ’s Paschal Mystery (His passion, death, and resurrection) lived out in the Church. The weekend helps youth relate this mystery to the concrete realities of their lives and challenges them to make a deeper commitment to Christ.
The retreat schedule consists of fellowship and free time, talks given by team members, small group discussion, personal prayer, opportunities to receive the sacraments, and other group activities. TEC gives young people a safe place to ask questions, reflect on the person of Christ and who He is in their lives, and experience meaningful relationships with others. Through TEC, young people enter into a wider community that supports and sustains them, creating bonds that often last a lifetime.
The retreat begins 9:30 a.m. on July 18 and ends July 20 at 6 p.m.

To Love and Be Loved
7:30pm
The Great Commandment, to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind" and "love your neighbor as yourself” is the foundation of our faith.
We have been created to love and be loved. This is reflected in St. Benedict’s Rule which recommends the principles of stability, conversion of life, obedience, and hospitality.
Benedict can inspire our love, whether we are monks or in a marriage or any other walk of life. His spirituality helps us to discover our "inner monk."
This program – which begins Friday, July 25, at 7:30 p.m. and ends after lunch on Sunday, July 27 – will be led by Father Mauritius Wilde, OSB, and Jodi Blazek Gehr.
Father Wilde teaches at Sant' Anselmo, a Benedictine study house in Rome and is an author, retreat director and radio guest.
Jodi Blazek Gehr is a wife, mother, Benedictine oblate and a certified SoulCollage and Boundless Compassion facilitator.
Program fee: $80
Rooms (per person, per night): single $52, double $43
Meals: breakfast $9, lunch $13.30, supper $12.30
Sales and lodging taxes are extra.
