Pilgrimage of Hope for Creation
9:00am
The Historic 24th Street Family of Parishes — Sacred Heart, St. Benedict the Moor, and St. John’s — will host the Pilgrimage of Hope for Creation, a spiritual journey that weaves together prayer, community solidarity, and a commitment to care for our common home.
This pilgrimage is a landmark event in the 2025 Jubilee Year celebrations, coinciding with the tenth anniversary of Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’ and the 800th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi’s Canticle of the Creatures.
Guided by the pope’s call for ecological conversion, we will walk together in North Omaha, lifting up the voices of communities disproportionately impacted by environmental harm and advocating for clean air, environmental justice, and a sustainable future.
The day will begin with a 9:00 AM Mass at Miller Park, followed by the pilgrimage walk, beginning at approximately 10:00 AM, proceeding along Florence Boulevard to Pershing Drive.
Along the route, participants will reflect, pray, and stand in solidarity with residents of North Omaha who have long borne the health burdens of coal pollution.

Blue Mass to Honor First Responders on Feast of the Archangels – Humphrey
8:10am
St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey will host a Blue Mass on Monday, Sept. 29, at 8:10 a.m., honoring the men and women who serve as first-responders in area communities.
This is a first-time event at St. Francis and for Archangels Catholic High School.
The tradition of a Blue Mass dates back nearly a century and is a way to recognize police officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics and other emergency personnel for their service and sacrifice. The Mass coincides with the Feast of the Archangels, a day that highlights St. Michael the Archangel, known as the patron saint of first responders for his role as a defender and protector in times of danger.
EMTs and firefighters in Humphrey, Lindsay, Platte Center, Madison, Creston, Leigh and Clarkson have been invited, as well as sheriff department employees from Platte, Madison and Colfax counties.
Following the liturgy, the ACHS senior class will host a breakfast reception for first responders in attendance in the church basement, offering a time of fellowship and thanks.
First responders planning to attend are asked to RSVP by Friday, Sept. 19, by texting the number of attendees from their organization or for themselves personally to 402-920-2221 so the ACHS seniors can plan accordingly for breakfast.
