Isaac Ostdiek

College IV

St. John Vianney

Hi! My name is Isaac Ostdiek. My home parish is St Bonaventure in Columbus, NE. My parents are Mike and Angie Ostdiek, and I am the third of five boys.

Throughout my life, I have felt the love that the Lord has for me. Whether it has been through Mass with my family, or retreats with my friends, God has always been there for me. I first felt my call to the priesthood late in my eighth grade year. It came out of nowhere while I was trying to fall asleep. A simple thought came to my mind that I fell in love with. What if you were a priest? The thought shocked me. I have never thought of it before. I thought that you had to be special in ways that my mind could not comprehend, but yet I thought about the priesthood more after that night. This thought was pushed so far back into my mind though as high school started, that I never thought about it until my sophomore year. I don’t remember what brought it up, but I went and talked to my high school chaplain. He affirmed me that he thought that I might be called, and told me not to worry about it too much right now. So with this new found wisdom, the priesthood has been more toward the front of my mind through the rest of my high school years. I took a leap of faith to apply to seminary. It was a big decision, and I am thankful for all of the support that I have been given.

I love to draw. It is one of my biggest hobbies. I love reading all types of books, but mostly adventure books. By far my favorite way to spend my time though is playing board games with some great friends.

I attend St. John Vianney Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. It has been exciting to see where the Lord has taken me throughout these last few years, and can’t wait for what is next. Thank you for all of the prayers and support.
