Hello! My name is Jared Ludwig and I am from Emerson, Nebraska, but my home parish is St. Joseph in Ponca, Nebraska.
I graduated from Ponca High School in May of 2015. After High School, I went to Mount Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota to study Psychology and Music. Throughout my life I have been told by quite a few people that they could see me becoming a priest. At first, I felt I was not being called to be a priest, but the reason I felt this way was because I did not pray about it and ask God what he wanted me to do. As I spent more time praying in 10th grade I started to think about the seminary more and take it more seriously. After praying for quite a few years I have felt a call to join the seminary.
My advice for those discerning a vocation would be to make sure when you pray that you cannot be distracted. This world is filled with distractions such as cell phones, computers, videogames and others. It can be hard to hear God when we get distracted with worldly things. Another good thing to do is to make sure you pray daily.
In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with friends from my High School and College. I enjoy playing almost any sport, but my favorite is volleyball. If I am not doing either of those I like to read books. My favorite authors are C.S. Lewis, Bishop Fulton Sheen, and Bishop Robert Barron.
