Hope Nebraska

Due to ongoing concerns surrounding COVID-19 the Archdiocese of Omaha, in collaboration with Hope of the Poor Ministries, has made the decision to cancel the Hope Nebraska mission trip from June 7-12, 2020.

The Winnebago Reservation is currently closed to visitors; Hope of the Poor continues to stay in communication with reservation leaders and will inform us of opportunities for your teens to serve in the future.
Mission Information

Hope Nebraska is a week-long mission trip for high school students (9-12 grades during the 2019-2020 school year) in partnership with Hope of the Poor

During the mission trip to Winnebago, students will spend time with elementary and Middle school children at the Youth Center in Macy, NE. We will play games and lead activities. In between the time we are working, missionaries will spend time in prayer, recreation, share about their days, and enjoy life in community.

Cost

Cost: $250.00 for teens and adult small group leaders (covers all mission expenses)

Participants must be in grades 9-12 during the 2019-2020 school year. Emotional maturity is essential for this trip.

2. Pay a $50.00 non-refundable deposit ($1.00 processing fee added to total cost)

Small Group Leaders (Adults 21 and over)

A limited number of half scholarships will be available for adult small group leaders. These scholarships will only be available for 2020. We recommend that parishes consider covering the cost of their leaders.

Ratio Requirements
One (1) adult to every five (5) youth.

Small group leaders must be 21 years or older, have a current Safe Environment certification, and completed Catholic Mutual’s “Be Smart – Drive Safe” Defensive Driving Course. These leaders will be responsible for all transportation to Winnebago and between host and mission sites.

If the majority of your missionaries are male, we ask you to please provide a male chaperone.

Young Adults
College age adults who are 18-20 years old will no longer be able to serve as young adult leaders.

Registration

Registration must take place through a parish or school group. The parish or school must provide adult small group leader(s) to chaperone and transport your teens.

Registration through the Hope of the Poor online portal is required. Teen participants cannot register online until an adult small group leader is secured. When a parish or school has a group of 1 adult and 2-5 youth please contact Beth Carlson for online registration instructions.

A limited number of spots are available. Group registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration will close at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6 or until spots are filled.

Scholarships

Scholarships will be available for teens and adults to help ease the cost increase. In the future, scholarships will only be available for teens.

Scholarship applications will be available March 2, 2020.
