Please join us for a one-day retreat focused on the fact that life for your child has changed, not ended. All parents who have lost children at any age, for any reason, no matter how long ago, are invited to attend.

The day includes speakers, quiet reflection, creative activities, Adoration, and time to share your own experience with other parents who understand. It is free to attend and all meals and materials are provided to you. Free will donation accepted.

Speakers: Mark Osborn lost his son, Sam, to muscular dystrophy four years ago. His journey through grief found him walking the Camino de Santiago in honor of his son. Hear from Mark what he has learned about grief and healing from a parent's perspective.

Deacon Jim Tardy is a Deacon of the Archdiocese of Omaha, where he works with Catholic Cemeteries as a grief counselor and outreach manager. After losing his wife, Virginia, suddenly, Deacon Tardy learned important lessons through his own grief, which led to a new ministry. He developed a path to healing by meditating on the Stations of the Cross. Known as "The Way Through Grief," his program has helped many learn how to lean on Jesus and their faith as they carry their own pain.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Omaha is conducting our 22nd Annual Winter Coat Giveaway on two Saturdays in October of 2026 - both of which are open to the public. The first will be held on Saturday, October 10th, from 3 pm – 7 pm at Assumption Catholic School's Gymnasium, 5602 South 22nd Street. The second will be held on Saturday, October 24th, from 8 am – 1 pm at the Omaha Home for Boys Gymnasium, 4343 North 52nd Street.

Any family in the greater Omaha area may stop by either one of these giveaway locations and receive a new or gently-used winter coat and accessories for members of their family (valid identification is required for each family member who will be receiving a coat).

We are also looking for donations of new or gently-used coats to distribute at these giveaway events.

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN for the 3rd annual Converging Roads conference in Omaha, NE.

Presented by the St. John Paul II Foundation, in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Omaha, the Fr. Edward J. Flanagan Guild of the Catholic Medical Association, and Creighton University, this annual conference series offers continuing education and equips health care professionals to practice the highest ethical and medical standards of their profession.

We are privileged to pray with individuals and families seeking the intercession of St. Peregrine, the patron saint of those dealing with cancer. A Mass is celebrated for those who are ill and for their loved ones the third Saturday of each month at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows Convent in Omaha, Nebraska.

Three times a year, in January, May and September, the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is included in the liturgy. In May, the month of the feast of St. Peregrine, we offer a special morning program along with the liturgy. At the November Mass, there is a special remembrance of those enrolled in the program who have died within the year.

Thousands of people throughout the world have found comfort and support through enrollment in our St. Peregrine Prayer Community. Persons enrolled in this program are remembered in the daily prayer of the Sisters and in the monthly St. Peregrine Mass. Those enrolled receive a medal of St. Peregrine, an enrollment card, and other prayer cards, “Prayer in Difficult Times” and  “Prayer to St. Peregrine”. On the third Sunday of the month, we coordinate charitable work and support the spiritual growth of our members.

Helping neighbors in need — Members discuss requests for assistance such as rent, utilities, food, transportation, or household items, and decide how to respond.

Reporting on visits and aid — Volunteers share updates from home visits or outreach efforts while respecting people’s privacy and dignity.
Spiritual reflection — Meetings often begin and end with prayer and may include a short reflection tied to Catholic faith and service.

Join the Creighton University Retreat Center (CURC) for a three-day silent directed Ignatian retreat, starting 4 p.m. Oct. 22 through 2 p.m. Oct. 25.

In this retreat, participants meet daily with an assigned spiritual director guided with the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola.

The retreat is a great opportunity for silence to encounter God, discern His will and reflect deeply. In the Ignatian tradition, silence is not merely the absence of noise but a practice of attentiveness. Registration includes a private room, meals, spiritual direction and the opportunity for Mass and reconciliation.
