"Thinking as God Does": The Passion according to Mark

10:00am - 4:00pm
Cost: 35.00
When Jesus first teaches his disciples that he must suffer, be rejected and killed, then rise (Mk 8:31), the response is that this cannot be the way to something great. But Jesus remains committed to God’s way of doing things. Mark’s Passion story tells just how committed Jesus remains to God’s will, dying alone but awakening faith in a lone Roman centurion. This year we will hear Mark’s Passion on Palm Sunday. We will spend this day looking closely at how Mark tells of Jesus bearing his cross and what listening to what Mark writes means for our discipleship and picking up our cross.
Father Joel Macul, OSB, S.T.L., was the abbot of St. Paul’s Abbey in Newton, NJ, from 1997 to 2015. Prior to that, he taught Scripture at Tangaza College and Catholic University of Eastern Africa in Nairobi, Kenya. He came to the monastery in Schuyler in January 2017 where he serves as prior.

Teaching Series - Spending Time with Jesus in the Temple

7:00pm - 8:00pm
Cost: $0
Did you ever wonder what Jesus was teaching in His final days before His crucifixion? Jesus well understood the final days ahead often sharing with His disciples on several occasions that He must die. He knew the day and hour of His upcoming death.

No doubt, Jesus considered his final teachings to be the most important. Teachings He wanted to reemphasize so they would pass the test of time.

You are invited to join us to examine these final teachings of Jesus with Father Scott Hastings and Father Padraic Stack. We will look at the week prior to Holy Week to reflect on these last teachings from Jesus in the synagogue. Join us for one OR both evenings to grow your relationship with Our Lord. This event is held on Monday, March 22nd, and Wednesday, March 24th.

You can attend in person or visit the CEC Omaha Website or Facebook page for a link to the Live Stream broadcast. Due to Covid constraints, preregistration will be required to attend in person. Please visit www.CECOmaha.org after March 1st to register.
