It is customary to pray the novena for a particular intention: for your own needs, those of your loved ones, or the needs of the world. Each day of the novena includes the veneration of a relic of Saint Francis Xavier, the opportunity to inscribe your intentions for the novena in a book of prayer at the Saint’s shrine, and a light reception afterwards.
