1776 – Mercy High School Winter Musical
December 1, 2017
An event every day that begins at 12:00am, happening 3 times
1776 is Mercy High School’s winter musical production featuring music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards and book by Peter Stone. Mercy’s performance features an all-female cast in the male-dominated play as well as a blend of modern dress and period elements. With the popularity of Hamilton, play goers may see some interesting connections between this play and the current Broadway musical. In Hamilton, minorities are representing white people, in Mercy’s play a diverse cast of young women are representing men. Also both shows deal with the challenging intersection of independence, racism, and compromise. Show is at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students (K-12), and $5 for Mercy students and are available at the door.
