Dear Friend in Christ,
It is privilege to begin my ministry as Archbishop of Omaha during the time that has been designated by Pope Benedict XVI as the “Year for Priest”. Together as an archdiocese, we will be giving thanks to God all year long for the gift of the sacred priesthood. Catholics will be encouraged to pray for and support the priests who stand at the head of the community of the faithful in the person of Jesus Christ.
I invite Catholics in a special way to ask God to give us the holy priests we need for the future of our families and parishes.
Perhaps you are one of the men whom the Lord is calling to follow him as a priest. I want you to know that I am praying for you. Do not be afraid to pray to the Holy Spirit yourself for the courage to respond to Jesus with faith and generosity.
We count always on the help of Mary to show us how to become faithful disciples of her Son Jesus.
