May God be praise in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharistic” My name is Juan Jose Gonzalez Lara. I am a normal teen saved by Jesus and loved by Mary. By the grace of God, I was born in Jalisco, Mexico in 1996. There I complete two and half years of formation in the Minor Seminary of the Diocese of San Juan de los Lagos. This time in my life was like living closer to Heaven.
In 2010, my family immigrated to Omaha. My adopted Parish is The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary-Our Lady of Guadalupe at South Omaha. I believe the Divine Master started is calling me to be closer to him and to discern the vocation to the Holy Priesthood, since my early years. As a kid, I remember I always played as priest, and even celebrate the “Holy Mass”.
It was so much love to God stuff, that since 2005 I had been an Altar server. By now, I am involved in different groups at my parish: Charismatic Renewal, Formation in the Faith Program, Adoration to the Blessed Sacrament during the night, Devotion to the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, two different Youth Groups and Liturgy. However, I will leave those groups when I enter to the seminary in January 2015. I expect to have a great time at the seminary and be closer to heaven once again.
The activities I most enjoy and love are: reading, make rosaries, preach at retreats, hang out with friends and spend time with the family at church. For the moment, I am a seminarian living in family, because I am going through chemo therapies to kill lymphoma in my body. I believe cancer is a blessing in my life, and truly I thank God for it.
I encouraged all those young man who feel the call to discern the vocation of Priesthood, to do so! As well as, I invite them to open the door of their hearts and life to God, with the hope that it’s worthy and it will be a great time of many blessings.
